Cousins Jason Waterhouse & Lisa Darmanin sailing in Rio
Cousins Jason Waterhouse and Lisa Darmanin are set to make their Olympic debut at Rio 2016 in the Nacra 17 mixed multi-hull. The pair have been sailing together for eight years, having claimed their first overseas medal together in 2009 winning the ISAF Youth Worlds in Buzios, Brazil. They both grew up on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and currently train at Middle Harbour Sailing Club.
Meet Luke Ramsay and Nikola Girke from Canada
Both Olympic veterans, Nikola Girke and Luke Ramsay have a wealth of experience across several Olympic sailing classes. Nikola has been to 3 Olympics; 2004 in the 470 and 2008 & 2012 in the RS:X Class. Her skills are suited perfectly to the fast boat racing and the intense physical fitness needed to crew the Nacra17.
Last two Olympic spots decided in Palma
The 47th edition of the Trofeo Princesa Sofía IBEROSTAR for Olympic, Paralympic classes and the Dragon class to be held from 25th March to 2nd April in the bay of Palma, registers a record participation in an Olympic year. In the Nacra17 Class the last two Olympic spots will be decided. For two of the 18 countries who already have their ticket to Rio, the event in Palma is part of the team selection.
6th Olympic Games for Santi Lange from Argentina
For Santi Lange (ARG) in the Nacra 17 Class, whose last year was compromised by a little battle with lung cancer, securing his spot at what will be his sixth consecutive Olympic games was a victory in itself. Now he and crew Cecilia Carranza Saroli are fighting to make up for lost time.
