Team Switzerland: 
Matìas Bühler and Nathalie Brugger

Swiss sailors Nathalie Brugger (30) and Matias Bühler (33) will represent Switzerland in Rio this summer. They met three years ago, when they started their Olympic campaign in the Nacra 17. They finished third at the Miami World Cup in January 2016 and finished their olympic qualification in February, at the Nacra 17 Worlds in Clearwater (USA). They head to Rio with high ambitions, having shown in the past few years very good results at the highest level.

Meet Luke Ramsay and Nikola Girke from Canada

Both Olympic veterans, Nikola Girke and Luke Ramsay have a wealth of experience across several Olympic sailing classes. Nikola has been to 3 Olympics; 2004 in the 470 and 2008 & 2012 in the RS:X Class. Her skills are suited perfectly to the fast boat racing and the intense physical fitness needed to crew the Nacra17.

The Netherlands: Mandy Mulder & Coen de Koning

Mandy Mulder (28) and Coen de Koning (32) are representing the Netherlands at the Olympic Games in Rio the Janeiro 2016. Olympic Silver medalist Mulder ((Ynling – Bejing 2008) and De Koning (World Champion F18 in 2008 en 2009) both started sailing in the Nacra17 in December 2012.

Van der Velden and Visser representing ARUBA

Nicole van der Velden (21) and Thijs Visser (26) are representing Aruba at the Olympic Games in Rio the Janeiro in August 2016. Van der Velden and Visser qualified their country at the Nacra17 World in July 2015 by finishing in the top ten. They are the first athletes in the history of Aruba to qualify the country for the Olympics.

Last two Olympic spots decided in Palma

The 47th edition of the Trofeo Princesa Sofía IBEROSTAR for Olympic, Paralympic classes and the Dragon class to be held from 25th March to 2nd April in the bay of Palma, registers a record participation in an Olympic year. In the Nacra17 Class the last two Olympic spots will be decided. For two of the 18 countries who already have their ticket to Rio, the event in Palma is part of the team selection.

6th Olympic Games for Santi Lange from Argentina

For Santi Lange (ARG) in the Nacra 17 Class, whose last year was compromised by a little battle with lung cancer, securing his spot at what will be his sixth consecutive Olympic games was a victory in itself. Now he and crew Cecilia Carranza Saroli are fighting to make up for lost time.

With around one thousand sailors from approximately 55 nations, the Trofeo Princesa Sofía IBEROSTAR is one of the most important Olympic Sailing events in Europe. This year it reaches its 47th edition to be held from 25th March to 2nd April in the bay of Palma and it is a qualification event for Rio 2016.
