The Junior European Championship for the Nacra 17, 49er, and 49erFX classes, hosted by Circolo Velico Sferracavallo (Palermo), got off to an excellent start yesterday. Perfect sailing conditions and a spectacular atmosphere on the racecourse set the tone for an exciting weekend ahead.
Under clear skies and bright sunshine, a light breeze of 6 to 9 knots allowed the Race Committee to make full use of the day, completing all scheduled races. The 41 teams representing nations from across Europe enjoyed a technically demanding but rewarding opening day, with three races successfully completed in each fleet.
Favorable weather and the high level of the young sailors combined to deliver a great first day of racing, immediately highlighting several standout performances.
