Meet Luke Ramsay and Nikola Girke from Canada

Both Olympic veterans, Nikola Girke and Luke Ramsay have a wealth of experience across several Olympic sailing classes. Nikola has been to 3 Olympics; 2004 in the 470 and 2008 & 2012 in the RS:X Class. Her skills are suited perfectly to the fast boat racing and the intense physical fitness needed to crew the Nacra17. Luke moved from Lasers to 470’s and sailed his way to the Olympics in 2012. With a degree in Engineering, Luke has a strong technical knowledge that he can apply to the tuning of the boat. They started sailing together in 2013.

What was your biggest challenge as a team?
We endured some really tough times in 2014 when Nikola had a string of bad injuries. It took us a long time to learn how to handle the power and speed of these fast catamarans. Due to this, we lost most of our 2014 season, but having gotten through those times and overcoming this together made us an even stronger team.
