Clearwater, FL. Day four of the Nacra 17 World Championship went off without a hitch. The less than stellar wintery weather that Clearwater has produced has now subsided, and finally the sailors were able to sail in nearly perfect conditions out on the Gulf of Mexico.
Jason Waterhouse and Lisa Darmanin made the best of a light airs day three at the Nacra 17 Worlds to move to 3rd overall after the young Australians scored 5,4,1. It was a long day on the water, almost six hours, so maintaining concentration was difficult, but absolutely key.
Allan Norregaard and Anette Viborg Andreasen rocketed up to second place overall in the Nacra 17 World Championships, the Danish duo showing a rare mastery of the demanding conditions on the turbulent waters of Clearwater Beach, Florida.

Mandy Mulder and Coen de Koning showed a strong performance in Miami. Even more so because this was their comeback event after Coen broke his collar bone a few months ago. He was operated in September. They used a plate with 7 screws to transfer 3 pieces of collarbone into one. He was far from being able to sail at that time.
At the head of the fleet World #1 Jason Waterhouse and Lisa Darmanin (AUS) will spearhead a pack of 49 that includes high profile Nacra 17 contenders. Teams such as three-time World Champions Billy Besson and Marie Riou (FRA), World #2 Vittorio Bissaro and Silvia Sicouri (ITA) and the experienced Santiago Lange and Cecilia Carranza Saroli (ARG) will all be on the start line.

The crews tried to make the most of it on the second day in a row without racing due to the lack of wind at the Barcelona International Sailing Center’s facilities. The fleet of 42 boats from 23 nations completed three races on the second day. With a total of six races the teams can now discard their worst result.
