Albrecht / Nicolino

Samuel Albrecht was born on 2 September 1981 in São Leopoldo, Rio Grande do Sul, and sails out of Veleiros do Sul in Porto Alegre. He is one of Brazil's most experienced Olympic sailors, with three Games: 17th in the 470 at Beijing 2008, 10th in the Nacra 17 at Rio 2016, and 10th again at Tokyo 2020 with Gabriela Nicolino, when they reached the medal race.

Albrecht and Nicolino joined forces in 2018, won that year's South American Championship, and secured Brazil's Tokyo place with 5th at the 2018 Worlds in Aarhus. They took silver at the 2019 Sailing World Cup Miami and Pan American Games bronze at Lima 2019 and Santiago 2023, the latter earning Brazil its Nacra 17 place for Paris 2024. A match racer too, Albrecht won the 2011 Porto Alegre Match Cup unbeaten.

Gabriela Nicolino de Sá was born on 25 August 1989 in Rio de Janeiro. Once rivals, she and Samuel Albrecht joined forces in 2018 and quickly became Brazil's leading Nacra 17 crew, qualifying the country for Tokyo with 5th at the 2018 Worlds.

She made her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, where the pair finished 10th after reaching the medal race. Nicolino has shared in the team's Pan American Games bronze medals at Lima 2019 and Santiago 2023, the latter booking Brazil's place at Paris 2024. In 2020 she received Brazil's Military Medal for Sports Merit from the Ministry of Defence.
