The Nacra 17 is the Olympic foiling catamaran, raced by mixed crews. SailGP and the America’s Cup both race foiling boats, and Nacra 17 sailors are all through their crews. This page lists every sailor from our class in a current SailGP or America’s Cup crew, with their team and role. Each name links to their nacra17.org team page.

Why the Nacra 17 leads to pro racing

Flying a foiling catamaran with two people, and keeping it flying through the manoeuvres, is the core skill in SailGP’s F50s and the America’s Cup’s foiling boats. Nacra 17 sailors arrive already knowing how a hull behaves on a foil, how to trim for flight, and how fast things go wrong. That is why so many of them end up as drivers, flight controllers and strategists.
