Zajac / Matz

Thomas Zajac is one of Austria's finest sailors, a Nacra 17 specialist who delivered his country's first medal of the Rio 2016 Olympics. Sailing with Tanja Frank, he won bronze in the mixed multihull and was chosen as Austria's flag bearer for the closing ceremony, having spent much of the cycle ranked among the world's best.

For the Tokyo 2020 campaign Zajac teamed up with Barbara Matz, continuing as the standard-bearer for Austrian Olympic sailing. His blend of speed and big-event experience kept Austria competitive at the front of a deep international fleet.

A multiple World Cup medallist over a long career, Zajac has been a constant presence in the Nacra 17 since its earliest days and a mentor figure within the class.
