Gimson / Burnet

John Gimson is one of the most successful Nacra 17 sailors of the modern era. With crew Anna Burnet he won Olympic silver at the Tokyo 2020 Games, Great Britain's first Olympic medal in the foiling catamaran, and has been a fixture at the front of the class ever since.

The partnership's record is formidable: two World Championship titles (2020 and 2021), three European crowns (2021, 2023 and 2025) and, most recently, World Championship bronze in 2026. Few crews have matched their consistency at the very top.

An experienced and tactically astute helm, Gimson continues to chase his Olympic ambitions, with the pair firmly in the medal conversation heading toward the Los Angeles 2028 Games.

Anna Burnet, from Scotland, is an Olympic silver medallist and one of the leading crews in world sailing. Alongside helm John Gimson she won Britain's first Olympic Nacra 17 medal at Tokyo 2020 and has since helped build one of the most decorated records in the class.

Her honours list includes two world titles, three European championships and World bronze in 2026, a body of work that places her among Britain's finest multihull sailors. Powerful and precise in the front of the boat, Burnet remains central to the team's success.

With the partnership still going strong, she and Gimson are among the contenders for the podium at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
